Sikaflex® - 291i is a marine one-component polyurethane sealant. It has high adhesive power on materials used for boat building. For use on surfaces like: wood, metal, glass, primers and lacquering (two-component systems), ceramic materials and plastics. Sikaflex® - 291i can be sanded easily. The varnish compatibility has to be checked previously under production conditions. If the varnish will be burned-in, the sealant should be fully cured. Since the elasticity of the coating is less than that of the adhesive / sealant material, there may be cracks in the lacquer joints. PVC-based varnishes and varnishes, which dry by oxidation (oil varnishes and varnishes with alkyd resin) are not suitable for overcoatings.
